Can it get spookier than this ?

Me and my friend—we went to watch a horror movie last night—a few characters in the movie who stays in flat no. E5 and E6 keep dying—and our seat nos. – E5 and E6 !!!!

The moment I noticed the eeriness (the movies name is Eeram, what are the odds, huh?), I turned to my friend and  :

Me : Da, our seat nos. Its E5 and E6 !

He : Oh, hehehe. What coincidence, huh?

Me : Coincidence ? Im scared to death now !

He : Why? After all, its just a movie. Shut up and watch !

Me : You can say that ! When you go home, you are going to be with your mom and dad. I go to a flat where there is no one except me and a bulb that glows on its own.

He (stares at my face)

I am not kidding guys; there is this bulb above my wash basin that switches on whenever it wants to. But the bulb knows how to behave when someones around. Sujith and I stayed in the same flat for almost a year and not even once the bulb ‘behaved immorally’. The wash basin is located in a passage between my bedroom and the hall, and at times, when I go to my hall or to my bedroom, the bulb glows on its own!! Needless to say, each time that happens, I get a heart ache !!! I got the electrician a couple of times to check the switches, but according to him, theres nothing wrong with the switch or the line.

And if you guys thought its just the switch, listen to this – when I sit in my hall in the afternoons, I hear the sound of an indoor swing swinging to and fro !! I could literally hear the noise that the metal chain makes while swinging !!! I stay in the ground floor, and it is the only apartment in the ground floor, so the noise cannot be from any nearby flats. There are only two possibilities then – the first floor; didn’t know how to clarify it with the tenants there. But once, I had to go to their home regarding a water leak issue, and I took it as an opportunity to have a nice look at their apartment. Its not them either !!! and the second and only possibility– from the floor below my apartment, Hell !!!

What more ! This flat where I stay, according to my watchman, was unoccupied for 2 years before we came in !!! Ok, its not over yet; my flat number is B3; split the letter ‘B’ and you get the number 13 !!!!!!

Why am I then staying in the same apartment? I really don’t know. I did make a few attempts to shift. Especially after last years flood attack, I started looking out for other flats religiously, but for some reason or the other, nothing happened and always got stuck here. (for the ones who came in late here, last Nov, we experienced heavy rainfall in Chennai and I had water till the hip level inside my apartment)

Anyway, if there is ‘anything’ in my apartment, it’s a friendly one and by all chances it should be a female. I don’t think men ghosts would enjoy seeing me jump in fright each time the bulb glows on its own, or each time I look here and there when I hear the sound of the swing ! But I think I also heard a ‘Buhahahahaha’ when the news on section 377 was announced !!! 😀 😀 😀

I do my best to stay away from horror movies; why pay all that hard earned money to get scared, na? This time I went because the reviews in the net mentioned that the movie is a psychological thriller ! Damn, those reviewers ! Btw, the movie is a must watch and is easily one of those best tamil movies to have released this year.

The last spooky movie I watched was Yaavarum Nalam (13 B in hindi ), that too twice. I kinda liked that movie, for the simple reason that they didn’t show any gory faces in it (except for the final scene where some of the characters appear in white dresses, each carrying a candle. But then, there was a similar candle scene in Rang de basanti too 😀 😀 😀 ).

And before that, if I am not wrong, it was an episode of Zee Horror Show that I watched and it sure did scare the shit out of me. I know, many of you would comment saying they were funny and it should have been Zee Comedy Show, etc. ! But it was this particular episode that I accidentally watched during my 10^th model exams. I got into the hall to get a pen when I saw a girl on TV turning her back and speaking to someone. I stood there with the pen in my mouth to see how the girl looked like (c’mon, I was inquisitive!).  Well, I shouldn’t have; she turned, and her face was too scary that I didn’t sleep for a few days; kept calling my mom to check if she was there in the same room. Whenever I entered the bathroom, I used to turn the oil and shampoo bottles away from sight because their labels had all those long haired women. I was also scared to go to the kitchen because I always found my mom turning her back to cook; what if she turned and looked real scary? Yes, I was even scared to be with my own mom! But that was like 14 years back, and I still cant stand the sight of scary and grotesque or even blood smeared faces !!!

People, its not that I believe in ghosts, but I am too scared of even think about them 😀 😀 😀
