A colorful revenge !

March 4, 2010

Disclaimer : You are about to read a true story of a bunch of idiots and what they did in the name of revenge !!! The post has graphic images and I strongly recommend pregnant women and the faint hearted to stay away from this !!

———————————————————————————————————————————————————-

Once upon a time there was a watchman, (Jills husband if you remember this) who was in charge of three apartment blocks. The decade old apartment blocks comprises of 125 apartments and our watchman (wait, let me give him a name…hmmm..Rajnikanth) had been looking after them on his own for the last 6 years; with help from Jill of course !!! What a man, huh !!! Just like the name, Rajnikanth could do just about anything !! Apart from being a watchman, he is also an electrician, a carpenter, a plumber, a painter, a sewage engineer (oh, the drainage guy). He wouldn’t say ‘no’ to any work you assign him. And inspite of the pressure from all these apartments, he is also a part time real estate consultant; in lay man terms –  Broker ! (Ok, enough of build up for Rajnikanth, lets get back to what happened)

Ever since these blocks were built, no one bothered to get them painted and had been standing still for the last 10 years with the first whitewash. To get people to our apartment, we just had to tell people about the horrendously old building in the street and it was easy for them to locate us. Several discussions were conducted to get it painted but the president of each apartment never came to equal terms on the budget and so it kept getting postponed right from the third year.

A few months back, a president of one of those blocks shifted to a new place. A new president was appointed in two months and a meeting was held. This time, things got smooth and finally the decision to renovate the buildings got sanctioned. Our Rajnikanth was appointed to complete the task (who else, huh?) and was asked to handle the finances too.

The work started and the first block was painted in one week straight. God knows who took the decision on the colors; oh even God wouldn’t want to know !! It was a deadly combination of light green, orange, fluorescent yellow and green !!!

The president of the middle block (lets name him – SRK) became so unhappy that even before the work on the next block could start, he presided another meeting to discuss on the colors. But since the paints were already ordered, Rajnikanth objected to all their new color plans. The discussion then turned into a heated argument and few of the inmates retired back home. The rest of them joined SRK in his argument which continued for another hour. SRK even accused Rajnikanth of getting cheap paints and utilizing the rest of the cash for his real estate business. Towards the end, Rajnikanth got fired and was asked to stop all his services for that particular block. He readily agreed and approached the other two presidents if they wanted him to discontinue as well. To his surprise, they retained him and at present, he takes care of two blocks; one at each end and left the middle block for a new goat !

SRK wasted no time and appointed a new watchman. He should have simply hired a contract painter, but what is SRK without his ego !! As soon as the new watchman joined his duty, he was entrusted with the responsibility of getting the block painted. SRK took no chances and chose the colors himself to make his block look better and brighter than the one which Rajnikanth took care of.

All he wanted was to set an example and come into sight as an efficient leader. But with his idiotic revenge, SRK is now responsible for the temporary blindness in our neighborhood. Look at the below picture and you will understand. These colored apartments is now a perfect landmark for others and a shame for people who stay near them !

Meanwhile, Rajnikanth started the work on the third apartment. He decided to mellow down the colors this time and make it totally different from the other two blocks. Probably, that was his way of taking revenge !!

Poor rajni saar…!Being blamed for thinking long term! hey these buildings look like all building in Chennai , of course,) I could very easily have mistaken them for my aunt’s place somewhere in nung…..!!!!

Phunny post!!!! See this is why I come read ur blog!

    • March 4, 2010 11:43 pm

They should put us also behind the bars for staying in them 😀 😀 😀

Rajni sir these days is a very happy man ! 😀 😀

and they are in chennai, yeah, but not in nung…

  5. March 4, 2010 6:19 am

Wow! what a colorful treat 😀
As Sakshi rightly said, the likelihood of these apartments soon changing to one of the tourist attraction sites is very high.
In the mean time to make good (monetary) use of SRK’s and Rajnikanth’s skills and the colorful damage done so far, these societies could contact any of the distemper making companies to use these apartments for advertising 😀 😀

The people can now add the color scheme of their apartment in their postal address to help the postie deliver mail more efficiently 😀

Instead of sulking I believe all residents must award Rajnikanth for making their lives so colorful 😀 😀

    Enjoy!!

    • March 4, 2010 11:50 pm

Vaise when did this mishmash of colors happen? Before/ after or during your mrrg???

Vim : Ohhh, this happened six months back. I was waiting for the perfect lighting to catch the snaps ! 😀

If it happened before am sure your presence was responsible for the “zero” colour sense of ur neighbours.

If it during then am sure it was a wedding gift for you guys!!!

And if it happened after then the reason for “before” applies 😀 😛

Vim : Whaaat ??? you had a troubled childhood, didnt you ??? What confusing statements !! 😀 😀

  29. March 6, 2010 6:30 pm

Everytime I come to Chennai, I only want to go to the beach. Now I’ll take a sneak peak at these. But these apartments look like someone painted them all at night when they couldn’t tell the difference between the colours!!! Hahahaha 😀 If your newly-wed wife is asked why she married you , now she can say ‘Love is blind..or even colour-blind’! 😀

Where I used to stay earlier in B’lore also had a few Rajnikanths, SRKs, Rajkumars etc.. who decided on similar attrocious colours. Purple & pink!! Like autos & buses, I think its high time there’s a ruling for apartment colours..for the benefit of the masses! 😀

Had me laughing Vimmuu.. Btw which one do u stay in?

    • March 9, 2010 4:23 am

Oh please. Do let me know when you are coming to chennai though ! Like some of them suggested, a few years down the lane, these buildings are going to be tourist attractions ! 😀 😀 😀 😀

LOL. either they painted it at night or with their eyes closed ! 😀 😀

Oh yeah, the buses and autos in Blore are colorful alright ! You are right, there should be a color code for buildings! 😀 😀 India would have people with better vision ! 😀 😀

I stay in the best one ! 😀

The third photo building looks good! But generally buildings are pretty pale and normal in Chennai, except for the new apartments. Our college for example was painted light pink, but thank god now its got a light chocolate colour – that’s my favourite for a building.
