I am alive !!!
Yeah, I know, so cliché!! These days, every blogger uses the same words when they resume blogging after a looong gap; either as the title of their post or as the opening line!
Well, in my case, I didn’t take a break from blogging because I didn’t have anything to write. Infact, I had a few posts lined up and had also written and saved them. But then, one fine morning, actually evening, after getting back from school, my laptop refused to switch on. After repeated attempts of trying to make it work (I even tried the traditional banging-the-laptop technique), I took it to its authorized service center. The guy over there mumbled something in ‘technology’ and all I understood was ‘corrupted OS’. I begged, pleaded and must have also shed some tears asking him to save all my data – I had two photo albums, a couple of videos which I was working on, those blog entries, and a couple of my recordings which were left to edit, all in my desktop and with no backup ! But the bugger said ‘no’ with a sadistic smile! On the same day my bike, for some reason, didn’t want to take me along with it and I had to leave that also for service.
I still had my wifi connection at home though and kept accessing the net through my mobile; that’s when I was active in FB. Something happened to our phone lines and two days later, I lost that luxury too. For almost a week, it remained that way, with absolutely no sign of getting fixed. There was just two more weeks for me to shift to Kochi (yeah, even that happened!) and I decided to cancel the connection, rather than calling the customer service as an everyday routine. My bike was still in the service center and didn’t hear from those laptop guys too (couldn’t call them and enquire the status because the number in the bill was incorrect). No bike, no laptop, no internet; totally stuck ! The day I received my bike, I went straightaway to check the status of my laptop and those idiots, apparently, had fixed it long ago and forgot to call me. The laptop was more like a vegetable, it just had a trial version of the OS and it required an online connection to get activated and not to forget, I also had to download the drivers. The relocation to Kochi was to happen anyway in a few days, so didn’t bother to get a data card for internet.
My adventure with the service centers continued in Kochi as well. A week after reaching Kochi, my phone was the first to give me trouble. The moment I switch it on, the stupid thing gets stuck with no display or sound. According to the mobile service fellas, the one of the board’s parent, mother or father, passed away and I would have to pay 75% of the mobile’s cost to get bring that parent back to life; yeah, like I am crazy to pay that much!! Next in line was the bike – oh yeah, again. Those TVS guys in Trivandrum totally destroyed my bike which was once upon a time happily riding in Chennai. After receiving my bike, it was my laptop’s turn to drive me nuts. It crashed once again and carried it once again to an authorized service center. And, it was only then I realized that those Trivandrum HP guys had replaced my monitor; I used to have a monitor with a built in webcam and now I don’t!! Yeah, so much for authorized service centers!! Anyway, the day I brought the laptop back home, my external hard disk crashed! The hard disk was the only source of backup I ever had. I would’ve gone to depression if anything happened to all those data and so was ready to go any extent to get it fixed. After a three week long struggle with the service center, I got my external hard disk and just when I thought that the good days were about to return, my bike came up with a new problem. Petrol was leaking from the tank like water pouring out of an overflowing tank; again, something which the Trivandrum TVS guys were responsible for. I just left it at a nearby workshop this morning and I am expecting to receive it sometime this week.
Exciting, isn’t it? If reading the above two paragraphs was confusing enough, just imagine what I would’ve gone through. There were times when I had this strange feeling that somebody, somewhere is playing that supposedly funny game ‘Axe your Ex’ with me 😀 😀 😀 😀 Sigh! I am eagerly looking forward to the next stuff that is going to enter the ‘give-poor-vimal-a-headache’ bandwagon!
Ok now, to answer the question, what am I doing in Kochi ? Nobody asked, eh? But you know what, I don’t care. This is my blog and I will write whatever I want; so there !!!
What attitude, no? Blame it on my school, folks!! Attitude – the trait that I hate the most in people, and a subject which my school is interested in teaching me these days. The other important subject is politics. There is something about keralites and politics, guess it runs in our blood; we can see our people playing ‘political’ games in school, college, office and at times, even in our house. Honestly, I am least interested in it because I don’t understand these subjects and try my best to stay away from all such classes. I am not kidding, but the students in my school are also graded based on their attitude and performance in politics. Obviously, my grades are low because of the poor attendance and the ever increasing arrears in both the subjects! Oh, forgot to mention, I am still in the same school with the same students and teachers around; just that I got a voluntary transfer to another branch.
Kochi , as they say, is a happening place and a lot better than Trivandrum in terms of the amenities, but certainly, way behind Trivandrum in terms of the roads and cleanliness. And oh, atlast, I got to see a shopping mall that is not Big Bazaar! The most important aspect for me in a city is its people and I must say I have had some real bad experiences with the people in Trivandrum; I am glad that people are a lot lot civil here. A Trivandrum fanatic would disagree, but having stayed in various parts of Kerala, I can easily make out the difference. Probably, I am wrong, but that is how I feel. Kochi is overcrowded, I agree, and the traffic, sometimes, gets onto my nerves. And guess what, the city is blessed with a lot of swimming pools which we need to dodge and drive while we are on the roads. Not that I love this place so much, but Kochi happens to be just three hours from where my parents live. Moreover, this is also the Missus’ native, and now that she has friends and relatives around, I don’t have to give her all my attention and time. As it is, I had only a few hours left in my life after my hectic school schedules and so, you can imagine!! Speaking of friends, remember this ?
And so, my best friend is also here. The poor guy has been a helping hand ever since I arrived and is literally trapped !!! Buhahahahaha ! On a different note, it rained like crazy for almost a week when I reached Kochi too and like always when I reach a new city, people said “ooohhh, you know, it hasn’t rained like this ever !”. Don’t know why it happens all the time, but the moment I relocate to a new city, it pours and pours and pours and…. The same happened when I first set my foot in Chennai, way back in 2001, that too during the month of June !!
Anyway, if you think any of the ‘aforementioned’ are the only reasons that made me move to Kochi, then, naaaahhh! The missus’ parents have a house here that’s been unoccupied for a while, and when you get a rent free accommodation in the city’s prime location, isn’t that deal a steal or what!! I have been receiving comments on this decision of mine, but I really don’t care because I still haven’t given those people the mantle of my life.
And guess what, these days, I am very careful with my anti-marriage comments because all it requires for her to shut my mouth is a “Get outta my house”!!! Who am I kidding, eh? Will a lion ever stop roaring just because it caught cold once? Buhahahhahaha!! Oh wait, IHM, you should mention about this in one of your ‘Joru ka Ghulam’ posts and ensure that V-Lokam get some extra hits ! 😀 😀 😀 😀
That’s it from me; let me go and reply to the comments for my previous post; the one I published 3 months ago 😛 😛
Oh my oh my
What cani say to that..
So u in a happening place well done you….

Just imagine if ur wordpress account also got hacked n crashed somehow 😀 😀
LOL, and I wouldnt have even known about it and imagine somebody publishing posts here on my behalf !! 😀 😀 😀
Pinne regarding tht yakshis curse on u.I will tell you how to reverse tht. All u gotta do is burn some posters of tht stinky Johnny depps posters in his brandan kollakaran pirate avatar along with 2 pairs of paragon hawai chappals. Once u have burnt it ,collect the remaining ashes and sprinkle it with unholy water (Kochi tap water will also do) and then make round balls of it and place it inside an earthern pot next to ur wall.Wait for a while and If u see any suspicious looking pakshis flying past ur house, shoot them down and make sure it lands right inside the pot.If it falls inside the pot and the pot gets cracked then you are safe man. After tht the curse will be reversed and we can continue making fun of tht ‘Mammookoya wannabe’ forever!! Muhahahahhaha!!
posters won’t do….the only way one can reverse the curse is by offering me Johnny Depp in this state http://cdn.fd.uproxx.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/10/RumDiary-Boxers-poster-full.jpgme 🙂
Why did u have to put another ‘ME’ after jpg
Btw I think ur deppu thorappan is still trying to copy mammookoyas style. Thts definitely mamookoyas trouser!!
aaa yakshiye adakkaan idokke cheyyano???? thalakkonnu koduthaa porey ???
@ sakshi : Brat is right ! that is mamookoyas trouser !!! ee deppan chekkaney kondu thottu !!!
What?? It rains wherever you go? Well imagine the plight if you and my husband together land at a place! It will be washed away in floods!
Glad to here you are still alive and kicking but in Kochi.
nghey??? angerum inganeyaano ??? njangalude oru kaaryamey !! 🙂 ya, glad to be in kochi; avasaaanam varey ningal enikku treat thannillaaa !!! 😦
I think u should go to somalia man. They might declare u as their king or even better..their rain-god! And then i could also join u n start up a fraaaaad umbrella business there 😀
Ah, the brat never fails to impress 😀
koothara malabaari !!! you wont give me peace of mind even in Somalia, eh ?
Welcome back, Vimmuuu! Damn good to her from you.
Seems nothing worse can happen at ur end now, given the incidents with your bike, laptop n internet!
Wish you were regular on the posts……. hopefully from now on
And I’m within #10
Yaaaaay 🙂
Nothing worse?? Im anticipating bigger ones in the coming days !! 😀 😀 😀
and being within 10 here is no longer a big deal! Most of my regulars are absconding !! 😛
Thank god….! Will come back to read!
🙂 So the whole universe conspired to keep you away from the ‘virtual’ world 🙂
It rains everytime you go to a place? Please, please, please never come here 🙂 We get more than our share of rains anyway 🙂
The silver lining sure is that you can no longer getaway with your anti marriage comments 🙂 Am sure your wife must be loving being in Kochi – in every possible way 🙂
I have my doubts on certain bloggers regarding that conspiracy ! I heard the Don came back during my absence !! 😀 😀 😀
Remember my travelogue, it rained while I was there in the UK, na ? 😀 😀 😀
Didnt you read my comment about the roaring lion ?? Buhahahahha (cough! cough!)
This post sounds like one of those where the husband tries to give long explanations for coming back home late Now tell us what was your actual reason for staying away from blogging? 👿 😈
Haa you and me should start a business together where we can just walk over to a parched place and collect money for bringing in the rains along with us 😆 Btw in my case it usually rains for days and months the first time I go to a place and then just like that the rain stops 😥 is it the same for you too eh?
SEE WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU TRY TO MAKE FUN OF MY GOD???? 😡
Ps: Do we have to say Welcome Back? you know so that we can get some comments back on our blogs from you? 😉
You got this from that ??? 😛 😛 😛 I actually pity your hubby now ! paavam manushyan ! Ok ssshh…let me go back to denial mode !
oh no, for you too, eh ? did you read Rakesh’s suggestion above ? We should go to Somalia; I can be the king and you the queen !!! Together, we can….you know…you know….drive Brat away !!!
that deppan chekkan is your God??? I demand a temple for Maamukkoya now !!!
PS : for that, you need to be regular in blogs !! 😀 😀 😀
so by the way why did you move to kochi ! 😛 😛 😛 !
and did you by any chance delete your fb account ?
Seriously, do you want me to answer your first question ?? 😛 😛 😛
I have temporarily deactivated my FB account; your himalaya trip snaps were spamming my page ! 😀 😀 😀
LOL!! 😀 Otta oruthaneyum veruthe vidaruthu!!! 😛
Some days are like that, whatever we do, wherever we go, our work will not be done but collapse badly!
So, Trivandrum is that bad, is it?!
Come back to Chennai, we need ‘cat & dogs’ rain!
Keep posting hereafter regularly, vimmuuu! I thought you would have forgotten to add 3 ‘u’s to your name by now!
and for me, it was not ‘some’ days, it was 2 months and waiting for more ! 😀 😀 😀
No, Trivandrum isnt bad ! There are positive sides to it too; its one of the cleanliest and the least polluted city I have even been to! 🙂
The last time I was in chennai, it was raining like crazy; sometime in September 🙂 🙂
LOL ! I hope I could be as regualar as how I was once upon a time. What to do; priorities !! 😦
So you are in Kochi!!! Was wondering where you disappeared!! A says a big hello to you and asked you to take care of the bike (maybe he remembers you took him on it?!?! )
Keep in touch 🙂
oh, how can I forget the Dhoom song !! 😀 😀 😀
Yup, shifted here in August, was in TVM till then ! 😀
I enjoyed your posts. When you were away from your blog, I read most of your older posts. I have now subscribed your blog. I will keep track of your blogs henceforth. I so very much want a blog of my own now.
Your blogs have been a dose of laughter 🙂 Continue writing interesting stuff !!
Welcome to V-Lokam and thanks for stalking me while I was away 😛 😛 😛
Jokes apart, thanks for being a part of V-Lokam. Looking forward to your blog someday 🙂
whew!! Welcome back Vimmuuu!
What an adventure you’ve had! Good to have you back! 🙂
Oh and yea, why did you move to Kochi?! 😛
I have told you so many times, do not talk to Dhiren bhaiyya !! bad influence !!! 😀 😀 😀 😀
Laptop OS is a trial version? Man, you should install Linux Mint on a second partition and set up dual boot. External hard-disk also fails along with laptop hard-disk crash? Now that’s something very serious! It happens to only one in 1000000000 people and you are that! Are you growing virus or what? 🙂
Destination Infinity
Its not a trial version anymore; it was ! 🙂 and heyyy, my external hard disk crashed as soon as I got back my laptop; it didnt happen at the same time !! Sigh !!!
Virus..hmm..starts with v too !! 😀 😀 😀
Glad to know you are alive 🙂
I have something in common with you 😀 In my case, my external hard drive crashed and then my laptop crashed and I lost lot of data. I had been making lot of trips to get my lappy fixed.
Missed your posts!
Evil eyes Avada, I tell you !!! They are all around us !! 😀 😀 😀
All the best for the service center visits ! 😛
LOL SHould agree!!!! I was actually SUPER glad to see you back…I dont know how u ALWAYS manage to get entangled in looads of problems – but u knw they say – aarande ammade praanthu kaanan nalla shelaannu :D.
As to why the cities pour n ur reallocation – guess ud knw it by now – what else can it do but cry on the misfortune!!! – cliched – iknw – still good for u 😉
AND – whats abt this school thing?? where and what are you working as?????
Dont know if I should be grrr-ing or lol-ing at the first sentence !! ((wheres the mixed reaction emoticon? do they even have one?))
Bleh !! I think I should come to Blore soon and create a flood over there !!! 😛
and you dont know abt the school thing ??? how did you miss that yet another misfortunate post of mine !!! 😛 😛
😦 i did miss then – which post? ure a teacher now 😀 😀 😀 MY GOODNESS! God save the world! Im NOT going to take my kid to kochi! 😀 even if u dnt teach him, if he meets any other student of urs! his fate is doomed!
heyy its password protected 😦
I had to read your post and I STILL do not understand half of it…..too much confusion! 🙄 Never mind, I m not even going to try deciphering it anymore!!
Pretty decent comparison points you made between the two cities. Trivandrum has far better roads and is definitely the cleanest city in Kerala. Kochi’s swimming pools in the roads, the mosquitoes, the traffic (OMG, I will NOT drive in Kochi even if you pay me to….one month stay and driving there was more than enuff) and also the its overcongested population are all of its negative points. But there is much more to do if you are in Kochi…good restaurants, malls (new ones are now opening up) with multiplexes and definitely more friendly/sociable people who are open to receiving people from other places. So yep I agree.
Good luck with your stint in the new city. Hope you are happier here than in Tvm!
Good grief!! What is it with you and rains?!!! 😯
Now this is really proof that you have been away from blogging too long. I have actually forgotten to abuse you or make fun of you in my comments!!! 😛 😛
I am commenting on it like somebody else’s blog. All normal. 🙄
Sigh!! I miss the good old days 😦
1) My posts are confusing for you.
2) You are supporting my views.
3) You are not abusing me !!!
Buhahahahaha !! Marriage has changed you !!! Marrriage has changed you !!! (Remember, this is what you kept commenting in all my posts when I got hitched?) Tra la la la la la Tra la la la la la la !!!
Ok you think I won’t abuse you???
Poda useless @#$% @#$% @#$% !!! (baaki censored) 😛
Call me on the phone, I will fill up the blanks, don’t worry!
As for the marriage bit, I am remembering Masood’s fantastic comment in the post you posted right after your marriage. About the cockroach who flips and rolls over its back when hit with the baygon spray!!! ella nayinte makkalkum aa divasam varum!! And u thot it applied only to u eh? 😛
Welcome back, didnt have the patience to read your comeback post 😉 but I promise to comeback myself to read it another day. Now stay!
Ok teacher 🙂

I’ve never been to Kochi or Tiruv’ram. and i sooo want to visit kerala!
I am not kidding; I always felt like leaving my laptop and the bike at their respective service centers and never go back!!! 😀 😀 😀

Oh, Trivandrum is a wonderful place for tourists !! 🙂
MAN!!! if u there was an exam for spotting such stuffs! Ud b the topper!
phew! so many reasons you had to give to explain your absence-va? pah talent you have Vimz :p btw welcome back ! so you had to bid a tearful farewell to the haunted house in Trivandrum no. paavam .
and your school people are still bullying you? pathetic they are. push them off while they are playing swing or some such lame game in your next team outing 😉
hehehe..excuses, rather than reasons !! 😀 😀 😀

LOL, Im gonna push some people while they are happily sipping tea in the terrace !! 😀
A post after three months and so many reminders…. In fact I was gonna send you one more reminder this weekend….
Ohk I know the sad story now so I can’t blame you much for your unplanned SHORT blogging break…. 😛
So finally you have settled down in Kochi and you are liking that place too… Good…
As far as your school is concerned, trust me the other schools also give importance to these two subjects only and you know what you and me can compete for scoring the lowest… Ahhhh forget it….
I wouldn’t say anything about rains coz I simply love them….
I hope your next post will not take another decade… And that song, I don’t know if you would post it in this lifetime….
Best wishes to your bike, laptop, cell phone, refrigerator, washing machine, microwave oven, television set, music system, and other precious possessions… 😀 😀
What schools are you two talking about? Haven’t you finished school yet? 😀
you still in college, arent you ?? 😀 😀 😀
You don’t remember school!!! You don’t read all the posts here, do you??? Very bad Ajay… Tut tut tut….
I remember the school Vimmuu has been going to lately. 😀
Im getting used to reminders at my school now !!!
yeah, with all these tensions in mind, it was difficult to even find time for daily routines ! 😀 😀 😀
not that like I like Kochi so much, but I feel its better than being in Trivandrum.
Waaaah !! I have competition in these subjects also !! 😦 😦 😦
Finally, something we disagree to ! I hate rains. period.
Ya, im thinking of being regular. But looks whos speaking about updating blogs regularly !! 😛
and many thanks for the wishes, shall keep informing you on whats going wrong next !!
We’re very glad you pulled yourself out of this alive. I mean after all that who can say no? Waiting for the pending V-Tunes. Cheers!

Hi
Hello
How are you doing?
Oh, hi there Vimmuuu… sheesh, feels like its been forever 🙂
Hows Kochi treating you? oh right, that was what the post was about.. hmm, dint know you were there… i was there few months ago, in Fort Kochi on a weeekend holiday.. what fun 🙂
Might be visiting again nov sometime… 🙂
hey there!! how have you been? what terrible luck! service seems to be real bad in Trivandrum. maybe u can try moving to drought-hit places and do humanity a favor 😛
totally agree. shopowners and shopkeepers in tvm do not SMILE. and they are arrogant compared to those in cochin, kottayam or thrissur. it is a widely talked about phenomenon!
